Game night just got better! The next time you invite the gang over or want to treat clients to a fun event with alcohol, why not whip up some delicious craft cocktails to elevate the mood? At The Crafty Cask we love the idea of merging classic games with cocktails, so we came up with a few ideas to help you get a night of spirited competition rolling!
Twist the night away with a martini-infused game of Twister®
Who doesn’t love a good game of Twister? To make a boozy experience out of this classic game, we suggest arming yourself with your favorite martini recipes first. Next, choose a different martini recipe to go with each of the colored dots—green, yellow, blue, and red—on the Twister mat.
May we suggest: classic gin martini (green), lemon drop martini (yellow), cosmopolitan (red), and blue Hawaii martini (blue).
How to play Martini Twister: Players “earn” a martini when they phase out of the game. For example, say your old college buddy Bart can’t stretch and strain far enough to touch his left foot to the nearest green dot, he’s out of the game but rewarded with a classic gin martin with a big green olive. The last woman or man standing gets the martini of their choice.
Blue Hawaii Martini Recipe
- 1 oz. blue curaçao
- 2 oz. vodka
- Splash of fresh pineapple juice
- Pineapple wedge for garnish
Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice, shake vigorously, then strain into a chilled martini glass or coup to serve.
Sauce up Scrabble® with a salute to the classic margarita
At The Crafty Cask, our passion for margaritas is legendary, especially craft margaritas made with fresh lime juice—no preservative-laden mixers here! The history of the margarita is also fascinating, so we thought rewarding players for using margarita-inspired words during game play would be great fun.
How to play Saucy Margarita Scrabble: Make a pitcher or two of margaritas (this one is Evan and Suzanne’s favorite!) ahead of time so your guests don’t get thirsty. Next, post a list of margarita-inspired words nearby and award players double points for any of the margarita words they use. Players can skip spaces for combo words like “triple sec,” and proper nouns from the list are allowed. Some possible words include:
- Blue Weber
- Tequila (of course!)
- Triple sec
Wondering what Blue Weber means?
Or what daisies and sidecars have to do with margaritas? Book an in-person or virtual Evolution of the Margarita class with us! We’ll send you and your guests ALL the ingredients for three delicious margarita cocktails, and a craft spirits expert from The Crafty Cask will spill all the historic margarita details…
Infuse a game of Taboo® with craft cocktail recipes
You remember the premise of Taboo, right? Two teams of three or more players each take turns guessing a secret word, prompted by clues from a team member who can’t use certain words listed on the game card to describe the secret word. Your job—along with stocking up your bar with craft cocktail ingredients, craft beer, and craft wines—is to add new cards to the Taboo deck inspired by your favorite craft cocktails.
How to play Craft Cocktail Inspired Taboo: You’ll need to do a little craft cocktail recipe research in advance. (Start by grabbing our Best Manhattan Recipe here.) Create new cards for the Taboo deck inspired by these recipes that include the name of the cocktail as the secret word and “banned” clues based on recipe ingredients. Slip the new cards into the deck and let the game and cocktailing begin!
