Evan’s Famous Margarita

Special Equipment:

Cocktail Shaker, Juicer

Good For:

The Authentic Margarita Lover

Growing up in Arizona, Evan claims that you were judged by two things: your homemade margaritas, and your homemade salsa. He learned to perfect his margarita years ago and we believe it is a perfect recipe that avoids the overly-sweet mixes usually used here in the U.S.

Evan’s secret weapon in this recipe is the Dry Curacao instead of triple sec. If you’re using this, he recommends using 1/4 oz of simple syrup, too, to help with the flavor a bit. Triple sec works as an alternative if you prefer.

Let’s Get Shakin’

1/2 oz lime juice

1/4 oz lemon juice

1/2 oz Dry Curacao

1/4 oz simple syrup

1 1/2 oz Tapatío Blanco Tequila

If a salted rim is desired, cut lime in half and rub on the rim of the serving glass and dip in salt.

Juice half of a lime and a little under half of a lemon into shaker.

Add in Dry Curaco, simple syrup, and tequila, then add fresh ice. Shake vigorously about 20 times.

Strain into salted rim glass over ice.

…but am I going to like it?

Getting to know your palate, what you like, and what you don’t like is a critical part of being a great craft tippler AND key to becoming a great home bartender as well!

So before you break out that barware and buy the key ingredients, here’s a little guidance on what to expect from this cocktail so you can start to hone in on exactly what elements of cocktails you enjoy and which you’d prefer to minimize.  This helps you order new cocktails you love when you’re out on the town better as well!
